The Office of Residential Life and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. would like to invite you to the 25th Annual Oratorical Contest honoring the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The contest, open to all UCLA students and High School Students in Los Angeles, will take place Thursday, January 24th, 2013 at 7:00 pm in UCLA’s De Neve Auditorium, located at 200 De Neve Drive, Los Angeles, California.

This year’s theme is “Visions of Hope: Celebrating 25 Years.” Dr. King delivered his famous speech in 1963, which focused on his dreams of social change for future. His words inspired masses of people and he became a legendary symbol of hope. Our country has made much progress since Dr. King’s speech, but injustices are far from nonexistent.

Watch and listen as orators and performers from UCLA and surrounding high schools use the power of words to confront current issues through the lens of Dr. King’s achievement and philosophies. With special guests and performances.
